Marsha Hammel Biography:
1949-1960
Born in Miami, Florida and lived with military family in Panama, Germany, Italy.
1961-1972
Began art studies at age twelve. Full scholarship to North Carolina Governor's School for Gifted Students, 1967, Virginia Commonwealth University Fine Arts Program, Richmond, Va.
1973-1980
Studios in Boston, Quebec, Aspen, Richmond and New Orleans. Began working with Musician motif in New Orleans, 1978.
1981-1997
Studios in Tampa, Sarasota, and Miami. First public exhibition of 75 paintings in Tampa, half of which sold in one night, 1988.
1998- 2001
Two year stint in New England. Exhibited in London, England, N. Ireland and Scotland.
2002-present
Maintains studio and residence in Western North Carolina.
